Supports Team Tim Tyler

What Gabby Wore Today is back from vacation but taking a step away today from the clothing reviews, giveaways and sale alerts to support Team Tim Tyler.

For those of you not from Canastota, New York that are not familiar with the story, Tim Tyler, former High School friend of mine and NYS Trooper was diagnosed with a rare from of Leukemia in early 2010.  After exhausting many forms of treatment at NYU the decision was made that Tim needed a donor Stem Cell Transplant and needed to travel to a treatment center in Houston Texas.

Tim is married to his High School, or more like Middle School Sweetheart, Jen. They have been together since we were kids, literally.  Here they are back then.
And here they are now with their 2 children Emma and Andrew.

Earlier this year the family traveled to Houston for the donor stem cell transplant with plans to return to New York before the start of the new school year.  But a few weeks ago received the devastating news that the cancer has spread again.  After many meetings and discussions another decision was made to have a second donor Stem Cell transplant.  Because preparing for a stem cell transplant is a lengthy process the trip home to New York has been delayed again and they won't be home in time to start the new school year.

Many of us want to help and are sporting our Team Tim Tyler T-shirts.  Here is Gabby wearing hers in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Here are Ryan and Mason wearing their shirts on the playground near Albany, NY

Here is Anna Claire wearing hers in Carrollton, Georgia

If you are in Central, NY and want to support Team Tim Tyler, you can get your shirt at Albanese's Sporting Goods in Canastota. If you are noticing the wrestlers on the shirts and wondering, Tim was a member of the Canastota High School Wrestling Team (which is legendary in our town) and returned after college to coach in the program.

Other than buying a T-shirt, I still wanted to do something and since What Gabby Wore Today is mostly about clothes, I started out in search of a company willing to donate one new outfit for both Andrew and Emma for their extended stay in Houston, but due to the tremendous generosity of 3 boutiques Addy's Closet, One Good Thread and Water's Edge Organics and 2 companies Persnickety Clothing Company and Lemon Loves Lime, I ended up with way more than 1 outfit each for Emma and Andrew.

Jen, I shipped these out to you today.  As we continue to pray for Tim, we hope that the clothes brighten your day and make things a little easier for your extended stay in Texas.

  1. Although I'm late seeing this, thank you for the update about Tim and his family. We were their neighbors in Canastota for a while; we miss them.
